Women Leaders Speak Out for Climate Action and A Just Transition During Climate Week and Ahead of COP30 in Brazil

For immediate release – Join Women’s Earth and Climate Action Network (WECAN) for a series of strategic and solutions-oriented events during Climate Week in New York and the UN General Assembly. Learn more here.


On September 24, in light of increasing climate disasters and threats to democracy, WECAN will bring together global women leaders to share strategies and solutions on the path to COP30 and beyond. During panel discussions, which will feature Indigenous women leaders from Brazil, speakers will share comprehensive, intersectional approaches and strategies to accelerate community-led climate solutions, phase out fossil fuels, protect democracy, and uplift the climate justice movement. Critical topics include forest protection and reforestation, gender-responsive climate policies, fossil fuel resistance, food sovereignty, Indigenous and human rights; Rights of Nature; and campaigns and policies for COP30 and beyond.
