2017 Womens March Presser - Why Environmental Groups Are Joining
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Sierra Club, Natural Resources Defense Council, Women’s Earth and Climate Action Network (WECAN), Climate Justice Alliance, Women's Environment and Development Organization (WEDO), and other women and environment organizations are partnering with the January 21 Women’s March on Washington and driving thousands to both the Washington march and marches around the country. Join organization leaders to learn why and how they’re getting involved in the Women’s March.
These organizations know when climate disasters like floods and droughts hit, women feel the burden. Gender equity is key to everyone’s ability to thrive in the face of climate disruption. This work will be more urgent than ever under President-elect Donald Trump. That is why the environmental movement is supporting the Women’s March on Washington. Under Trump, those who care about clean air, clean water, and climate action are aligning with other progressives in broader fights for people and the planet.
What: A telepresser with Sierra Club, Natural Resources Defense Council, Women’s Earth and Climate Action Network (WECAN) and the Climate Justice Alliance about their involvement with the Women’s March on Washington. A recording will be available following the telepresser.
