Rights of Nature: A Renewed Vision and Solution to the Climate Crisis and Threats to Biodiversity
Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt (November 14, 2022) – On Tuesday November 15, speakers will present on how Rights of Nature frameworks rights of nature will be addressed as a systemic solution to the climate crisis at the press conference organized by the Women’s Earth and Climate Action Network (WECAN at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) 27th session of the Conference of Parties (COP27) in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.
As humanity faces escalating climate and ecological crises, it is important to envision a new legal framework and economy based on living in balance with Earth’s natural systems; where the rights of humans do not extend to the domination of nature. The Rights of Nature is one of the fastest growing global environmental movements in history, and offers a systemic framework for change. During the conference, speakers will release a new white paper, authored by Movement Rights, Global Alliance of Nature, and WECAN, detailing the Rights of Nature movement and successes.
